Ming-Chen Hsu | Iowa State University
Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering

My research focuses on Computational Mechanics, Engineering, and Sciences with an emphasis on Fluid–Structure Interaction (FSI) problems. Currently, I am leading a research team at Iowa State working on interdisciplinary topics that find great pertinence in defense, medicine, energy, and many other fields. We develop verified and validated modeling and simulation frameworks that integrate complex parameterization, geometric design, multiphysics analysis, and optimization. Our methods provide effective use of computational FSI and high-fidelity analysis for exploring design space, facilitating data-driven modeling, and understanding the fundamentals of fluid and solid mechanics. Our research has been funded by the DOD, NIH, DOE, NSF, industry, and foundations.
