Mohtasim Saib Nahin

Nahin is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and joined the THETA Lab in Fall 2025. He completed his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. His research interests focus on thermofluids science and phase change heat transfer. Outside of academics, Nahin enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures, especially through their food!

Aoyon Paul

Aoyon Paul is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University. Prior to joining ISU, he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) in 2022 and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from CUET in 2024. He also served as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Bangladesh Military Academy. Aoyon is a Certified SOLIDWORKS Mechanical Design Expert, with research interests in Thermo Fluid Science, Energy Storage Systems, Energy Conversion Systems, and Design Optimization.

Alan Anaya

Alan is an undergraduate student at Iowa State pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Through previous experience with his high school engineering team in the Chicago suburbs, Alan discovered his passion for engineering and came to Iowa State to expand his knowledge! Since he discovered an interest in thermodynamics at Iowa State, he joined Theta Lab to continue applying his knowledge outside of the classroom through research.
